Class of 2011 Continues to Blaze the Trail: 100% of 5th Graduating Class Preps to Achieve College Admission
On Friday, December 3, the 28 students in Bronx Preparatory Charter School’s senior class walked from our school to the local post office to deliver their college applications-a yearly tradition begun by the first class of Bronx Prep’s graduating seniors. Their classmates, teachers, parents and community members cheered them on as they walked the two blocks from the school to the post office. The seniors are applying to a wide range of top-tier colleges, including Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Yale University, Tufts University, SUNY Stony Brook, Duke University and Morehouse College.
“At Bronx Prep, our goals are simply to prepare every student to go to college and for them to be successful in higher education and beyond,” said Dr. Samona Tait, Head of School at Bronx Prep. “We’re incredibly proud of our seniors as they take this momentous next step in their educational journey, and we’re looking forward to their continued success.”
Bronx Prep alumni currently attend schools as far away as Stanford University (Palo Alto, California) and the University of Virginia and as close to home as City College (Manhattan) and Fordham University (the Bronx). To date, 107 students have graduated from Bronx Prep, and 99% of those students have been accepted to college. Eighty-seven percent of Bronx Prep alumni are currently enrolled in college and the first Bronx Prep graduating class is poised to graduate from college this spring.
